Whether this be in the workplace or the wider community, it contributes to a devaluing of the Indigenous population.
In order to help bridge this gap, the Wingecarribee Shire Council, in partnership with Ngaran Ngaran Culture Awareness (NNCA), are running a free cultural training session in Moss Vale.
The workshop is designed to promote awareness of cultural difference by providing an introduction of the culture of the people we interact with; explaining the most appropriate ways of respecting and accommodating Aboriginal people; and creating a basic understanding and awareness of Aboriginal culture, community and history.
“Participants can expect to come away from the workshop with a better understanding of Aboriginal people, history and culture in a modern context,” organisers said.
“For organisations, NNCA can also work with you to align with broader strategic goals which could include employment and retention of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in your workplace, or fostering of greater awareness and cultural inclusion.”
The training session will be held at the Theatrette, Civic Centre Moss Vale on Thursday, February 8 from 9am to 2:30pm.
