The Skills and Thrills careers showcase will be held in Bowral on Thursday, March 1 at the New Empire Cinema.
Supported by the Department of Industry, the showcase takes career advice out of the office and onto the big screen and assists students in understanding the importance that skills and trades bring to the Australian economy, their regional town and providing fulfilling work for their future.
The showcase will discuss vocational education and training (VET), career pathways and trade and skilled careers in an engaging and entertaining way using video, animation and music.
The format of the one hour show will include a half hour film on various vocational sectors, hosted by an MC from SkillsOne Television, followed by guest speakers from organisations such as the Australian Training Awards, WorldSkills Australia, Defence Force and TAFE NSW who profile their stories of how they chose to connect their passions to a vocational pathway, leading to success in their industry.
Post showcase, students will be able to ask questions in a short Q&A, all schools will receive a master copy (DVD) of the showcase content to be utilsed in class time and all students will leave with a document outlining useful links on where to find more information.
Session times for the Bowral event will be from 10am-11am, 11.30am-12.30pm and 1pm-2pm.
