Holiday traffic delays on Illawarra, South Coast roads

Post-Christmas traffic is building across the Illawarra and South Coast as people make a holiday getaway.

See below for the latest updates on traffic delays across both regions.

Motorists are reminded Operation Safe Arrival,  the state’s Christmas and New Year road safety campaign, started at 12.01am on December 15 and ends at 11.59pm on January 1.

Double demerits are in place for all speeding, mobile phone, seatbelt and motorcycle-helmet offences.

The double demerit period runs for eleven days – from December 22 until January 1 inclusive.

Police on Tuesday renewed their pleas for drivers to stay safe on the roads after three people were killed in a horror head-on smash near Bendalong.

Two others were critically injured in the crash.

The festive season road toll now sits at 21 dead across NSW in 12 days.
