Well it’s one of nine in the running to be crowned with that title.
Ozan Fikri of Highlands TV entered the QantasLink Spirit Magazine My Town competition.
The My Town competition invited applicants to submit a short video highlighting why their town is the best place in Australia to visit.
He found out about the competition through Destination Southern Highlands manager Steve Rosa.
They used existing footage of the town and also shot some new scenes with Jennifer White from Destination Southern Highlands.
Both she and Mr Fikri live in Mittagong and know the area well which was why the chose to feature that town.
“I thought it was a great opportunity for recognition of our towns and villages we have out there,” Mr Rosa said.
“To be recognised in the top nine was great.”
When Mr Fikri and his team first thought about their approach, he said a lot of “firsts” stood out to him- including the first Australian steelworks BHP, the first tennis court and the first licensed inn (Fitzroy Inn).
He said Ms White and Michael Michael Turzynski did most of the filming and editing for the video.
Mr Rosa said he would like to create similar videos for the other towns and villages in the shire, featuring prominent local identities.
“That’s what people want to see- passionate locals telling their stories and hidden secrets of their town.”
An expert panel will judge the competition with finalists’ videos featured across Qantas’ social channels.
A Spirit magazine production team will also produce a film on the winning town.
