This followed Friday’s announcement by Health Minister Brad Hazzard that the proposed Public-Private Partnership (PPP) would not go ahead in Bowral.
Mr Hazzard said the subsequent redevelopment was due to start late this year.
“My job is to make sure [the Liberal party] honour their commitment,” Mr Secord said.
Mr Secord visited Bowral and District Hospital and Bowral Public School markets on Saturday.
He met with hospital staff, union members and community campaigners.
This included Public Health First representatives and Cr Graham McLaughlin.
“This victory is solely due to the community,” Mr Secord said.
“The community believes that your Medicare card should determine your health care rather than your credit card.”
Public Health First spokeswoman Edna Carmichael said nine months of campaigning had paid off.
“We think we got the best decision for the community,” she said.
Top priorities in the upgrade include overnight accommodation for all services, surgical services and maternity and paediatric services.
