Sacred Heart Day is a special occasion on the Chevalier College calendar.
It is a day set aside to celebrate the life of Fr Jules Chevalier MSC, Founder of the Order of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart.
Those celebrations begin each year with a special mass and wrap up with the annual Mission Concert which showcases the talents of many students.
A bright red heart painted on the cheek of students and teachers also becomes part of the uniform for that one day.
One of the activities that has become equally important in the annual tradition is the chance to give to others.
The school takes up a collection of blanket donations and these are handed over to the St Vincent de Paul during the Sacred Heart mass.
Those at this year’s mass on June 23 proudly witnessed the donation of several hundred blankets as well as other clothing to St Vincent de Paul for its Winter Appeal.
