Do you sometimes feel as if every glass of wine you pour tastes like… well… wine and you wanted to have some decent descriptors to help describe the wine? Are you wondering why there are so many wines to choose from when you pop into your local bottle shop and just can’t make up your mind? Or is it time to break away from your standard same old tipple and you are not sure where to turn?
It’s only by tasting a lot of different wines that you eventually develop a knowledge of your own palate.
Linda Lambrechts of Vintuition conducts regular wine events in the Southern Highlands and on June 21 there will be a wonderful lineup of wines to get you thinking –while drinking.
The main purpose of tasting wine is to discover what you like and why and also which foods are best served with the wines you love.
With so many different grapes grown around the world it can be a confusing subject but with a bit of practice and some tips, you will soon be on the way to understanding why wines are different and how this affects your palate.
It’s also a great way to find out more about wine and have a lot of fun with your friends.
Wines are poured in tasting glasses (35ml) and tasting notes and some handy information is given out on the night.
For those who need to drive home, spittoons are provided (an essential part of learning to taste) and there will be cheese and biscuits to keep the hunger at bay.
Whether you think you are a lover of white or red wines, or perhaps don’t like either, then this is your chance to get into the world of wine and discover how exciting it is.
Your facilitator on the night is Linda Lambrechts, who has more than 20 years experience in the wine industry.
Linda has travelled the world tasting, teaching, writing, collecting wines and conducts wine tours to interesting wine regions where you can immerse yourself in the foods and wines of different cultures.
It’s a fun and informative occasion and you will be sure to impress your friends with new-found knowledge.
Come along to The Glass Cafe in Mittagong at 6pm on June 21. There will be six wines on offer and a few surprises and giveaways.
The cost is $70 per person. Bookings are essential to ensure you have a seat and you can book a table for you and your friends.
