The Berrima Singers and the St Jude’s Singers under the direction of Christine Tilley will sing the Funeral Sentences from the Book of Common Prayer as set to music by the English composer Henry Purcell for the funeral of Queen Mary.
The Funeral Music will include instrumental movements for brass ensemble.
While this music was written more than 300 years ago, the words sit very as a poignant reminder of lives cut short and the ongoing grief of those that remain.
The inclusion of brass gives the work a military feel.
The Commemoration will also include John Ireland's anthem Many Waters Cannot Quench Love.
This anthem contains the line "greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends", a fitting commemoration for those who paid the supreme sacrifice in the theaters of war.
Members of local community and service organizations have been invited to attend.
The event will begin at 5.30pm.
