Banners hanging at the Southern Highlands Botanic Gardens were torn off the fence and ripped sometime between March 22 and March 23.
SHBG board member Chris Webb said he believed the banners had been torn down and used to get an unknown car out of the mud.
“How inconsiderate and thoughtless,” he said.
The banners were promoting the upcoming Southern Highlands Autumn Gardens weekend.
“This is a community project where all funds are raised by volunteers,” Mr Webb said.
“If anyone saw this happening, please let us know. Perhaps the vandal could pay for a replacement banner.”
The banners cost about $300, and Mr Webb said they believed they were vandalised between 3.00pm March 22 and 7.00pm March 23.
The incident was not reported to the police, but was posted on Facebook.
“We didn't contact the police because we thought there was pretty much no hope of doing anything,” Mr Webb said.
“We thought posting of Facebook might be a more effective way of finding someone who saw something.”
The garden is located at corner of Old South Road and Kangaloon Road, Bowral.
