National Parks and Widlife Service discovery ranger Deidre Martin helped make the hands-on experience possible at Fitzroy Falls, Morton National Park.
Part of the WilderQuest Discovery Program, Ms Martin would help children learn the rules of the parks, identify tracks left by native animals, and learn to be responsible for their environment.
“It’s important to explain to kids the role of parks as a place for people to enjoy and a safe haven for animals,” she said.
“We also go into the nitty-gritty of the ecosystems here.”
