Hill Top Public School Year 5 and 6 leaders went out to the farm to meet the animals and inspect the large market garden.
Farm Club Werai owner Hugh Clarke said it was ‘super fun’ having the children out at the farm.
“They were a great bunch of young Aussies with a genuine interest in where food comes from and they loved meeting the horses,” he said.
“As usual the pigs put on a show, and they also loved the bees.”
Mr Clarke said the walk provided a controlled environment for school students and families to experience the farm, including animals and growing programs.
“We feel the farm is a positive learning environment and the farm-made ice cream at the end was a big hit,” he said.
“It’s all about community and fun, and we provide a guide when requested.”
The Hill Top Students will be taking the skills and information they learned on the day to start their own school garden in 2017.
Their visit was made possible by BDCU Hill Top Bank and Farm Club Werai.
