The draft Parks Strategy was adopted by councillors with unanimous support at the November 23 council meeting. The plan details how Highlands parks will be maintained and managed in the years ahead.
Council park assets co-ordinator Peter Byrne said the strategy set out how council would provide, develop and maintain parks for future generations.
It was developed by looking at both the current number of parks council maintains and also allowing for future growth. Specific issues included the number, location, accessibility and type of parks to be provided and the level of service to which these parks should be maintained. Councillors commended staff on the preparation and presentation of the document.
