A consultant has been announced for the multi-million dollar Berrima Road Deviation Project.
Opus International Consultants will undertake design and environmental studies for the works, which are scheduled to begin in the first half of 2017.
This will include a new B-triple capacity roundabout at the intersection of Berrima Road and Taylor Avenue, New Berrima, road realignment and a rail overbridge to replace the existing rail level crossing.
The project will cost an estimated $9.2 million.
Council general manager Ann Prendergast said the project was the latest stage in the development of the $82 million Moss Vale Enterprise Corridor scheme.
“The Moss Vale Enterprise Zone has been designed to attract new business to our Shire,” she said.
“And the Berrima Road Deviation project in particular, will provide safer and more efficient access to the Hume Highway.”
The Australian Government has providing $4.6 million in funding for the project through the National Stronger Regions Funds (NSRF) with the remainder of monies to come from council’s reserves.
