Revenge porn is the distribution of intimate or sexually explicit images without consent.
Member for Goulburn Pru Goward members of the Highlands community to share their thoughts on the issue.
“When intimate images are shared without consent the social and emotional impact on victims can be devastating,” she said.
“The NSW Government is currently considering possible criminal measures to adequately address this concerning and harmful behaviour and we need community input on how to protect victims.”
The community will be consulted on a rang of issues including:
- the definition of ‘intimate’ images and definition of 'consent’
- how images are shared or distributed
- how to assess intent or motivation
- what penalties should apply
- how the offence should apply to children and young people
Individuals and organisations can respond to the issues raised in the discussion paper by October 21, 2016.
