Three Highlands homes will be on show as part of Sustainable House Day on September 11.
The Greeny Flat in Mittagong, Bundanoon Net Zero Cottage and the Exeter Straw-bale Home will all open their doors on the day.
Each of the houses will be open from 10am to 4pm.
The first rule of building sustainably is to keep it small and simple.
- Andy Lemann
Sustainable House Day has run for over 10 years and in 2015 more than 16,000 people visited 150 homes across the country.
Greeny Flat owner Andy Lemann said he hoped people visiting his house would learn the value of passive solar design.
“The first rule of building sustainably is to keep it small and simple. After that, passive solar design and reducing the amount of energy that you need. The last thing is adding a solar power system.”
