This could not be more true considering the events of the past week.
Since my last article, there was a major grass fire which closed the Hume Highway for almost five hours, the Bong Bong races were run and won, a coach rolled over injuring many people, a tragic incident at Goulburn airport saw a man lose his life, an escapee was caught by your police, and right across the command your police and our community have been participating in White Ribbon Day events.
All these events are very different in nature but one thing is constant. The work of the police, our other emergency services and the assistance of the community, demonstrates the excellent qualities and community spirit by all our residents.
People from Hill Top to Bookham and Tarago out to Tuena continually go out of their way to assist others. This is a great assistance to the emergency services and as always, a source of strength and reassurance for those who need it.
Although I have now been working at the command for over two years, and I should be used to it by now, the generosity and good old-fashioned mateship for others less fortunate or in need, never ceases to amaze me.
What a great place to live and a great place to come to work.
Until next week.
