Putting their best foot forward, the group follows a walking route encircling the town's prettiest sites.
Walk leader Mardi Cheesley of Hill Top started the group in 2008, as well as one in Bowral in 2005.
Then an administrative volunteer with Wingecarribee Family Support, she started the group for families.
"The first walk, I had a man in a wheelchair, mums with babies - all sorts, really," Mrs Cheesley said.
"But it's ended up [with mature retirees] because they're the ones who are moving here and don't know anyone.
"It's a good network: they find out about doctors, lawyers, tradesmen. We've had three new people in three weeks."
The Mittagong group meets on Thursdays from 9.50am on Helena St near (Old Hume Hwy end) for a 10am start.
