About 7.35pm on June 17, emergency services were called to Moss Vale Road following reports of a crash.
Police investigations suggest the elderly man was crossing the road when he was hit by a Ford sedan travelling north. The pedestrian was taken to Bowral and District Hospital by ambulance paramedics, but later died.
The driver of the Ford, a 70-year-old man from Hill Top, stopped following the crash and was also taken to the hospital, for blood and urine tests.
Bowral Police Inspector John Klepczarek said the incident was a reminder to be wary when using roads in winter. "The tragic event is also a timely reminder for pedestrians of the dangers of walking on or near the road, especially at this time of year," he said.
Insp Klepczarek said regular road users, whether pedestrians or cyclists, should consider bright coloured clothing, especially at night.
Police from the Hume Local Area Command are investigating the incident and have urged anyone with information to come forward. Call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or go to https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au
