The event was a huge success and Hume Local Area Commander Superintendent Zoran Dzevlan said alcohol-related issues were almost non-existent.
"I believe the licensing changes worked for the safety of the patrons at the event and, more significantly, for the people of the Southern Highlands after the event," he said.
"The workload for local police was a quarter of last year after the event, which ultimately means our interaction with the people of the Southern Highlands who were victims of crime was less and our interaction with drunken louts was almost non-existent this year.
"There were no reported assaults, no reported street offences, including malicious damage, and no anti-social behaviour in Bowral or Moss Vale townships from people who attended the event."
Just one person will be charged with a fail to quit notice and SI Dzevlan said eight other people were asked to leave because of their level of intoxication.
"One of the most telling statistics is that the head paramedic on site indicated that in 2013 they dealt with 28 patrons for intoxication and this year the number was zero," he said.
Bong Bong Picnic Races secretary manager Peter Hailes said the statistics were very pleasing.
"It really is put down to this mid-strength alcohol, which we wanted and has proven to be the right decision," he said.
"Those that objected to it, we said we'll see you later, but they came anyway.
"The event ran very smoothly and everyone was enjoying themselves despite the heat."
Moving forward, Mr Hailes said plans for some small changes were afoot.
"This year we put up a large shelter in what we call our food court area and people were under in the shade and really appreciated it," he said.
"We will see if we can do it on the other side as well.
"The Fashions of the Field was okay, but we'll tighten that up and maybe see if we should do things a little differently.
"Perhaps a best dressed on the day and bring the men into it as well."
In the lead up to the 2014 event, there were some issues relating to the venue's liquor license but moves are being made to address this for 2015.
There will be a debriefing session in the near future, which Mr Hailes said would include four ministers, the Independent Liquor and Gaming Association and the police to thrash out a better way to handle the event in the future.
"I think the liquor side of things will be dealt with for next year."
