At about 10pm on Wednesday night, the amenities block at Stephens Park on Derby Street, East Bowral, was up in flames.
Bowral Police and a local fire brigade attended the scene.
The fire brigade had to force entry to gain access and extinguish the fire.
The area was secured with the assistance of council, police and the fire brigade.
Bowral Police sergeant McCarthy said the circumstances of the fire were unable to be determined on the night.
However, a crime scene investigator and the fire brigade attended the scene on Thursday morning and confirmed the fire started due to an electrical fault on the premises.
"The fire caused damage to the roof structure, building block, contents of the amenity building, including seating, soccer equipment and barbecue equipment," Sgt McCarthy said.
"It's an estimated $20,000 to $30,000 of damage.
"Police advise to stay away due to hazmat and potential for collapse until it is repaired to what it was."
