While the figures are still preliminary, the Highlands is set to benefit from general funds as well as several specific boosts.
Local MP Pru Goward said she would make sure the region got its “fair share.”
“I will continue to work with my colleagues to deliver for our community and NSW and ensure that our region gets its fair share of the $6 billion infrastructure fund,” Ms Goward said.
Southern Highlands Community Transport is the big winner in the region, receiving $929,000 funding.
Bowral Public School will receive six new classrooms, staff amenities, covered walkways and outdoor learning areas as a result of the NSW Budget and Bowral Police Station will gain $80,000 towards the planning of upgrades.
The government has invested $3.4 million for repairs to the Hume Motorway. It is yet to be specified which sections of the Hume will be repaired.
The area will receive a $280,000 waste grant, which council said would be used to establish a community recycling scheme and roll out a waste education campaign.
The first part of the grant will include a recycling facility erected at the Resource Recovery Centre (RRC) which is designed to encourage the responsible disposal of problem wastes.
The second part will go towards the establishment of kerbside waste education.
The Southern Highlands has been included in the $100 million Restart NSW Illawarra Infastructure Fund which aims to drive economic growth.
Projects in Wingecarribee Shire are eligible to apply for funding, and project nominations are invited from local councils, community groups, industry and business groups, non-government organisations, education institutions and government agencies.
Wingecarribee Shire Council will get a share of $523,000 for regional roads.
The NSW Budget also includes an additional $107 million to continue senior and pensioner concessions that were cut in the Federal Budget.
