Three men, forced entry into the house and tied up the four occupants at about 1am (Monday, April 28).
A 50-year-old male occupant was assaulted and the other three residents, the man’s wife, daughter and her friend, both 20, were not injured.
Goulburn LAC crime manager Detective Inspector Chad Gillies said the man was assaulted with a blunt object in the violent attack.
“They’ve forced entry and when inside have approached occupants inside one of the bedrooms and assaulted one of the occupants, being a male, with a blunt object before they tied both the male and female up,” Det. Insp. Gillies said.
“While inside, they have then made themselves known to the two other occupants inside the house in another bedroom and proceeded to tie them up and escaped the premises a short time later.”
Det Insp Gillies said when the offenders left the premises, one of the victims untied themself and alerted authorities before freeing the other occupants.
Police are exploring robbery as their main line of enquiry after the three men escaped with several thousand dollars in their possession.
“It is apparent that the offenders had some knowledge that there was cash on the premises,” Det Insp Gillies said.
“The offenders did go prepared and at least one offender was armed with what I would describe as a blunt instrument.”
Police believe the offenders escaped using a vehicle, driving out of one of the two driveways on the property.
Det Insp Gillies said he believed the attack was cause for concern, especially in such a quiet community in the Medway and Berrima area.
A crime scene was established and forensic experts examined the location.
The injured man was taken to Liverpool Hospital with non-life threatening injuries and the other three victims were unharmed.
Inquiries into the incident continue and police ask anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or Bowral Police on 4862 9299.
