The Southern Tablelands Rail Users Group ran a survey for train passengers at Marulan and Bundanoon stations recently.
Group president Greg Price said he was concerned to learn about two people who had lost pay because the current timetable didn't allow them to complete a full day at work.
One person lost 40 minutes of pay per day, while another lost 30 minutes of pay.
"This may not sound like much, but when it is added up over a year, they have to forego a significant amount of money because of the current timetable and others may be in a similar situation," Mr Price said.
The survey also found safe, reliable and regular train services were high on the community's agenda.
Mr Price said history had proven that wherever regular rail services were provided, the population would grow rapidly in these towns and villages.
The survey followed a meeting between the group and Goulburn MP Pru Goward.
Mr Price said topics included timetable issues which affect the community.
The train's timetable is set to change in October.
Mr Price said the group was cautiously optimistic that useful changes would be made to the new timetable.
