Many locals coloured their hair to raise money for the World's Greatest Shave and some even shaved their heads, including News photographer Roy Truscott.
Gossip Hair and Beauty in Mittagong held the World's Greatest Shave on Saturday where ten people had their heads shaved, one got it dyed and many had their hair spray coloured, with Team Gossip raising about $2200 for the good cause.
Liz Stokes said more than 80 people turned up on the day and it was fantastic.
"The community support was fantastic, the scariest thing was Jess shaving her head, she's part of our Gossip team, it was really amazing of her," Ms Stokes said.
Mr Truscott, a part of Team Gossip, is just shy of the $1000 mark and said he had covered many fundraisers over the years and he thought it was time he took part instead.
"Firstly I would like to thank everyone that donated to the World's Greatest Shave with a big thank you to Dr Sue Uren and the Bradman Foundation for the $100.00 that they donated each; I could not believe the support I received from the people of the Southern Highlands," Mr Truscott said.
"I would also like to thank the girls and especially Liz Stokes at Gossip Hair and Beauty who put on a great day last Saturday and were very respectful in the way they removed my hair (as you can see in Monday's photograph in the Southern Highland News, hehe)."
He said that he likes his new hairdo and might just keep it that way for a little while.
"I like it and it seems most people feel the same as all the comments have been really positive with names like Bruce Willis being mentioned in the same sentence as my own."
"Furthermore my morning beauty regime has been reduced by almost half an hour since I now don't have to dry and gel my hair. Nude nuts rule!"
Twelve Robertson Cricket Club members shaved their heads and raised about $2500 for the cause and are still waiting on some more money to come in.
Organiser Adam Kich said it was a good result for the boys and everything seemed to go pretty well.
“It was a good show of support towards the Foundation and the good work they do. Hopefully we’ve achieved that,” Mr Kich said.
The team would like to thank Mauger’s Meats, Integral Energy, Mittagong RSL and Bowral High School who were among many community sponsors to get behind the cause.
Hairdresser Jenna Bartlett said she raised more than she expected and was very pleased.
She said around 20-30 people turned up to their event at Sensoria Hairdressers on Saturday and six of them got their hair coloured.
“I was the only one to get my head shaved, it was really successful and it was good to have some support there,” she said.
“It was a bit emotional when I first saw what I looked like but I had a lot of people telling me I looked beautiful so the support was good.
“I’d like to thank all my sponsors, including Oxley Mall Butchers, Highland Bakery, Bargo Hire and Goldwell.”
Nurse Wayne Wilson got his head shaved at Vibe Hairdressing Salon on Saturday and raised $611, more than double what he was aiming for.
He said he was as bald as a badger but he didn’t care.
“I’ve raised awareness, which is what I wanted to do and I will definitely do it again next year, I’d like to thank all the people who sponsored me.”
Sixteen-year-old Heather Fraser had her hair dyed purple and pink to raise money for the Leukaemia Foundation.
It was stripped back to blonde then dyed, and she said she would like to thank Leila of Hill Top Hair and Beauty Studio for donating the colour treatment.
“I’d also like to thank my family and friends who sponsored me, my goal was $250 and I raised $717,” she said.
