Dear Sir,
We were recently on holidays in the Highlands and earlier this month spent an afternoon in the lovely village of Burrawang.
At about 7pm, we took a walk from the village down by the road to the highway then across to the highway to near the large swamp.
We were just enjoying a barmy summer evening walk, although it was reasonably smoky from all the bushfires.
While walking near the swamp we were both surprised to hear a large roar like sound come from the way of the water.
My wife thought it was a cow mooing, but I thought it had a much different intonation to a cow.
We continued on our walk.
About two minutes later we heard a massive ‘whooshing’ noise emerge for the swamp in a similar direction from where we’d heard the roar.
We both looked down there and saw a huge object wallowing in the water.
We thought we must have been in a scene from a movie because the object we saw was larger than a horse but appeared to have a large hump.
As it was smoky, we didn’t get a clear view of the creature, but we were both of the opinion that it was something very unusual indeed.
I bring this to your attention because last week (our last week in the Highlands) we were reading your paper (January 14) and read an article about the ‘Burrawang Bunyip’.
We are not sure if it is the same swamp that wee were walking near or if it in fact could be the same creature, but we thought it best to bring it to your attention.
We don’t believe in UFOs, water monsters etc, but hopefully by telling you of our most unusual of sightings, it might help solve the mystery.
Yours faithfully,
Jason and Dorothy
