Bowral United Soccer Club players will swap soccer balls for golf balls in a one-day charity golf and family fun day at Mount Broughton Golf Club.
The Fantastic Furniture Rainbow Charity Golf Day, which is open for anyone to join, is planned for November 28.
The aim of the event is to raise as much money as possible for Jane Harris, a local wife, mother, school teacher and friend to many, who has battled with melanoma for the past 12 years.
The latest diagnosis, in September, has meant that Ms Harris has been forced to stop working as a teacher while she undergoes treatment for her condition.
Her husband, Mark Screen, has also taken time from work on occasions to support his wife and their two young sons.
Meanwhile, mounting medical bills and the costs associated with Chinese remedies used to boost Ms Harris's immune system continue to roll in.
The circumstances have not been lost on the Highlands community, including St Thomas Aquinas and St Michael's Catholic Schools.
Soccer buddies from Mr Screen's Bowral United Soccer team have most recently decided to do their bit to help a friend through "tough times".
Soccer club spokesman Carsten Prien said the golf day was a way club members could show their support for Ms Harris and her family.
"The schools have done their thing and now Mark's soccer mates want to show their support for him and his family," he said.
"Even members of the Southern Highlands Cycle Club, where Mark has developed a new-found interest in cycling, are getting behind the latest fundraising effort."
Mr Prien said Fantastic Furniture had stepped up as the major sponsor for the event while sponsors for 12 holes on the course had been secured.
He said seven more hole sponsors were needed, which would include a sponsor for the 19th hole at the clubhouse.
"We also have 52 people who have already registered to play in the golf day, but we are looking for more entries," he said. "We are also looking for donations of prizes which can be used in raffles and other fundraising on the day."
Mr Prien said the event would take the rainbow theme, which tied in with Ms Harris's love of rainbows.
He said everyone involved in the day was encouraged to dress in the colours of the rainbow with a prize up for grabs for the best dressed.
"There will also be plenty of fun for children including a jumping castle and face painting ? we want this to be fun for all the family."
Registrations, donations and sponsorships are being accepted.
The fee to play in the ambrose-style golf day is $100, which includes a drink and food at the 19th hole at the clubhouse.
