Wingecarribee Shire Council is calling on contractors to submit a tender to rehabilitate Old South Road.
The council's Director Service and Project Delivery Karen Targa said the upgrade of Old South Road had been years in the planning.
"The council is very excited to invite qualified contractors to submit a tender to refurbish the road," she said.
"This will be a large-scale and complex undertaking designed to improve the safety on one of our shire's most important thoroughfares."

Ms Targa said Council was seeking tenders from suitably qualified and experienced contractors to upgrade 9.3 kilometres of the road between Merrigang Street in Bowral to Aylmerton Road in Mittagong.
Contract works will involve road pavement widening and rehabilitation, installation of guardrails, construction of stormwater pits and pipes and miscellaneous associated works.

Council's public tender for the Rehabilitation of Old South Road closes at 10.00am Tuesday September 6, 2022.
"I would encourage any suitably qualified and experienced local contractors to throw their hat in the ring and apply by the closing date," Ms Targa concluded.
