The community event took place on June 22 once the sun was starting to set.

"The important part is this is a public sign to the community and wider world, it's important to make a stand about it," he said.

Th vigil also acknowledged violence "more broadly" worldwide, such as in Uvalde, Texas and Afghanistan.
The candles were a gesture of peace and hope and the blue and yellow ribbons, which represent Ukraine's flag, were tied at the front of the church.
The church's Uniting Voices Choir performed on the night and the bell from the tower was tolled.
Everyone who attended also raised more than $500 for Mission Without Borders Australia, which provides aid worldwide including in Ukraine.
