The side was up against the power of Links Shell Cove on Sunday at MVGC, a home game in the Golf NSW/Illawarra Region Master Pennants.
In a close finish it got down to last pair on the difficult Par four 18th. MVGC's Paul Maslen, playing number one, made par to win the hole to square his match, giving the eight-person team an exciting 4.5 to 3.5 point victory. The team is managed by Captain Scott Winsor.
Scoring proved difficult for the majority of members that took to the course at Moss Vale Golf Club (MVGC) last Monday.
Michael Wortz had a splendid round with 39 points, winning from Stuart Nagle on 38 stableford points.
The Women's competition on Tuesday was down in numbers because of the wet and difficult playing conditions. Sylvia Sylvester returned to the winner's circle with 30 stableford points securing the title.
Wednesday's Medley Stableford was played under slightly better playing conditions, Dave Edwards winning the A-Grade with 36 stableford points on a countback from Dave Tyler also with 36 points.
B-Grade was a tight finish with Stephen Brabyn winning on a countback from James Taylor both with 38 points. Rick Beers won C-Grade with 35 points and Robert Ramsay won D-Grade on 31 points.
A combined 2BBB was also played on Wednesday with Renato D'Adam and Darren Tickner winning with 43 stableford points.
Saturday's Medley Stableford competition attracted a big field, A-Grade was keenly contested with Philip Cunich proving to strong with 37 stableford points from Charlie Camphin on 36 points.
Sue Shallis showed her good form with a solid 37 stableford points, second was David Prince on 37 points on a count back. Adam Kich was the C-Grade winner on 35 points.
Another 2BBB was also incorporated within the Saturday Competition, Philip Cunich and Adam Kich combined well, winning on 46 points from Graeme Millar and Sue Shallis on 45 points.
