Many soulful greats like Sam Cooke and James Brown, helped the singer develop his artistic identity when he performed in family bands, and was finding his rhythm.
The former Queensland artist, producer and instrumentalist, who now lives in the United States, is ready to perform his tenth album Soulville in the Highlands this week.
It features and pays tribute to many hits like Walk On By by Dionne Warwick, I Heard It Through The Grapevine, and Aretha Franklin's Chain of Fools.
These classics are being brought to life on his Soulville tour, which will have people sing along at Bowral Bowling Club, on May 20.
"I hope people come out, let's have some fun, let's have a Soulville party," he said.
Mr Price has always enjoyed performing to live audiences, and said his first shows in Newcastle and Orange had his guests singing and dancing.
"[People have] got relationships with those songs," he said.

"Once the song is released, people develop their own relationship that doesn't involve me..."
The original track, titled Farewell But Not Goodbye - a personal tribute to Aretha, will also be performed.
The song was written by the artist and songwriter John Capek.
"[It's a] salute to Aretha say thank you, thank you for teaching us about soul and singing and letting it rip," Mr Price said.
