The consistency singles is played as follows, the nearest jack gets four shots, the second placed bowl gets three shots, third nearest the jack gets two shots and fourth gets one shot.
After ten ends Lewis held a 49-35 lead and appeared to thrive in the nice conditions.
The plan for Crowley was to get as close to the jack as possible and on the 15th end took the lead for the first time 68-66.
The next few ends neither bowler was able to gain a big lead with bowls being very tight that after 20 ends the scores were locked at 92-92.
After 30 ends it appeared that success would be for Crowley he had a 146- 138 lead but Lewis kept constantly plugging away and the turning point was on the next end when he picked up a 9-1 result. This put him right back into the game with the scores locked at 147-all.
The match finished on the 32nd end in dramatic fashion. Lewis had the right to the mat and with his first bowl drew on to the jack, Crowley with his first bowl just missed the jack by a fingernail.
All of a sudden Lewis was in the box seat and try as he might, Crowley could not get the shot bowl out the end finished with both bowlers picking up five shots each with the match finishing 152-all.
While the score was a tie, Lewis had the closest bowl to the jack and he was declared the winner.
Crowley totally agreed with the decision and said Lewis played with more confidence in the last couple of ends. Glen Giese, on making the presentation to the winner, noted that Lewis had the green named after him two weeks ago and has won the first men's final to be played on it.
Lewis was able to respond by saying that Crowley out bowled him on the day but was able to just sneak home in a match that had plenty of highlights.
