To give participants more motivation, this year Highlands Veterinary Hospital will be donate $1 for every 1km walked to local charity Dimmocks Retreat Wildlife in Bundanoon, NSW.
They are a wildlife critical care facility located in Bundanoon.
People who have a training partner are more likely to stay motivated and fit - this is especially true if your training partner is a dog.
The Paws The Pavement Challenge is open to all ages, clients/non-clients of the clinic, dog owners and non-dog owners (borrow a dog).
Walkers can use any route, any time of day, as long as they are also walking with a dog.
They can walk their dog, a friend's dog or even with their family group walking a dog.
This year, Highlands Veterinary Hospital will be offer a fortnightly "challenge" on social media. Participants just need to post a photo of themselves and their dog(s) doing that challenge to the Paws The Pavement Challenge event page on Facebook: facebook.com/events/2190549047763382 to win a free prize from one of the local sponsoring businesses.
Prizes include:
- OMG Decadent Donuts - a 3-pack of donuts
- Wingello Village Store - a free meal voucher
- Siva Hair & Beauty - go into the draw to win a $100 gift voucher.
Prizes will also be awarded for the total kms walked in the competition running period, which include:
- Entry into a drawing for one of three free consultations at the clinic (worth $85 each)
- 1kg Bag of Complete Mix (Adult/Senior)
- A 1-year supply of Nexgard Spectra parasite control for dogs.

Participants can log their distance walked on the website.
