Telling times
In times of crisis it's reassuring when our leaders show in a practical way that they understand and care. During the Queensland floods Kevin Rudd helped in the cleanup.

When the bushfires were raging Tony Abbott put on his gear and fought them. Anthony Albanese bought and cooked food for the firefighters. While the virus raged through aged care with terrible consequences Minister Colbeck was at the cricket and prime Minister Morrison washed a young woman's hair.

Marulan town water 'disgusting'
I have been part of the Marulan community for 25 years, the first 23, my family were/ are on tank water.
I moved to the Highlands, married and started my own family the last seven years and have recently returned to build our home on a bigger block and in the meantime am loving in town.
The town water is disgusting to look at and I feel awful for having to bathe my child in it. I don't think the issue is getting the priority it needs as those involved in the decision making and upgrade process aren't experiencing it. I think if they were it would be a different story. The homeless people on the island in the developing country my family comes from have cleaner water than this...

'Your services are appreciated'
After seeing the Government give themselves a lovely pay rise in 2020 while nurses police and ambulance services were not even considered for an increase, is it any wonder people think all politicians are on the nose.
I have seen first hand the nurses and doctors in emergency getting physically hurt by people intent on inflicting pain. The copper's put their life on the line daily, at what thanks? None.
Yet without these men and women there would be lawlessness. Our Ambos are attacked by drunks, ice addicts or 'next hit' junkies, with a portion of people needing emergency services as a priority.
Where is their help?
I have watched these three services nurture my ailing husband, care for him long term, and not once complain. All I can say to these heroes is thank you. I really hope the politicians hear you. Better still get them to walk a mile in your shoes. Your services are appreciated.

Search for family connections
I am trying to reconnect to a branch of my family. In 1915 Olive Catherine Turner from Queensland married Donald Caddow Hansen, a dairy man living at Bowral.
An obituary published in 1917 for one of their 10 children, Eric Ashley Caddow Hansen, on a Legacy website is no longer available.
Olive was my grandfather's niece. Her maternal grandmother Catherine Holcroft was buried in 1908 near my grandfather's mine about 30 km from Woolooga, Queensland.
You can find part of this story in My Turner Family History by John William Turner which is downloadable via the catalogue of the Australian National Library or available from me by email. I am happy to share further information and photographs. Contact me via johnturner0007@gmail.com
