Kicking off later this month, Wingecarribee Shire Council's free bulky waste kerbside collection service will collect the big household items you no longer need.
The service is available to all domestic waste customers, with Mittagong, Balaclava, Renwick and Welby residents among the first to take advantage of the kerbside pick up.
There are only three things you need to do:
- If your items are still in good condition, consider donating them to a local charity
- Check that items can be collected
- Prepare your items and place them out the night before your scheduled collection.
The bulk waste collection service will then move to the northern villages before continuing to Bowral and the shire's outlying villages before finishing in Moss Vale in April.
The introduction of the initial annual bulk waste collection service follows a recommendation by council's interim administrator, which sees the service cover 19,500 eligible properties across the shire.
All existing property owners who currently have a residential council garbage collection service will be able to take advantage of the new service.

Costs for the new pick-up will be absorbed by council for the first two years of operation.
Items that will not be picked up include asbestos or items contaminated with asbestos, building waste, car tyres, batteries or vehicle engines, chemicals, glass and mirrors and electronic waste.
Any materials left behind after collection will be classified as either non-conforming or having exceeded the allowable volume.
Residents will be responsible for the proper disposal of these items themselves
The council encourages residents to consider re-using, recycling, repairing or donating their unwanted goods prior to disposing.
