Prominent Bundanoon artist Del Cooley and her former student Caroline Deeble will showcase their journey in an exhibition titled 'Interweaving Passion', which reconnected the pair after 34 years.

While differing in styles, the two artists have a shared vision of light, shadow and atmosphere, creating awareness of both the beauty and fragility of our environment.

After three years of setbacks, which included Del's art studio being destroyed by the bushfires in 2020 and COVID-19, and rescheduled dates, the duo will finally show their artworks together.

Del Cooley (acrylic and oils) and Caroline Deeble (watercolours and mixed media) are practising full-time artists with impressive portfolios and experiences from their art journeys.

Their first joint exhibition is a celebration of their shared creativity spanning more than three decades.

Del was an art teacher in the colleges of Canberra where she taught Caroline in the 1980s.

"This unique student/teacher collaboration demonstrates the important connection of fine arts education in our adolescent years," said Caroline Deeble.

"It is the dedicated and passionate teachers in our lives that inspire our career direction, and the desire to learn and develop our full potential.

"They help nurture the future generations of successful artists and creative thinkers in our community."

While the opening of the exhibition may have been delayed due to bushfires and the pandemic, Del believes the exhibition will be better viewing for those who visit.

"The artworks have been carefully selected from our ever-growing portfolios over the past couple of years," she said.

"Where possible we've chosen works which complement our styles while sharing our perspectives on the beauty of the environment."

The artists hope to leave visitors to their exhibition with a greater appreciation of nature through their dynamic, inspiring and aesthetically powerful works.

The exhibition will feature in Canberra's M16 Artspace from January 21 to February 6 and is open to the public under the normal COVID-safe provisions.
