The Governor-General, General David Hurley, has tested positive for COVID-19. We wish him a speedy recovery, of course, but the unfortunate situation does give rise to the question of whether Australia needs a Governor-General at all, and more broadly how our constitutional arrangements have stood up in the face of a pandemic.
