Gail Fraser defeated Glen Giese 31-22 in the semifinal on Sunday and has vowed to try and go all the way to win the final.
Just to make it to the final has already been an incredible achievement. On Saturday morning Fraser played 40 ends before defeating Graham Hunt, then in the afternoon played 33 ends to defeat Brian Porter.
On Sunday, Fraser shot out to a 12-3 lead after eight ends and this was made possible by responsible draw shot play.
After a good run in the championship Giese just could not match it with Fraser, after 20 ends the match was as good as over with Fraser on course for the final leading 20-12.
The match finished on the 33rd end with Fraser winning by nine shots to move into the final.
In the other semifinal Jim Neely defeated Julie Hayden 31-16.
The day before, Hayden was making all the news when Ashley Lewis was completely outplayed by Hayden.
Jim Neely completely dominated this semifinal with his draw shots and on shots and the match finished on the 24th end with Neely moving into the final with a 15-shot win.
Club news
The final of the McGrath singles will be played on Saturday December 4, commencing at 1pm.
Gail Fraser v Jim Neely
Who will be crowned senior singles champion?
This final is a great match up. Jim Neely and Gail Fraser have played together in the mixed pairs championships for several years so they both should know one another's style of play.
Fraser has appeared undaunted in the matches she has played to reach the final and being a good draw shot player means Neely will have to be at the top of his game.
Neely, who has represented Zone Five, was not surprised that his playing partner has reached the final.
The general view is that this should be a very competitive final and by the halfway mark, one would have a guide on the winner.
The first round of the Bank of Queensland major fours has been pushed back to Sunday December 5, commencing at 10 am.
Bowls supporters, remember the clash of the giants McGrath senior singles final this Saturday December 4 at 1pm.
