The announcement was made at the club's AGM on Tuesday night and whilst details regarding the specific category are yet to be announced, the club confirmed it was a NSW State grant.
President Amanda Dening told the Southern Highland News that the funding would be used to resurface hardcourts as well as completely replace the fencing.
"It's very exciting news," she said.
"There were starting to be cracks appearing and before it gets too bad we want to get that sorted."
Dening also revealed that the club would continue to apply for funding from the State Government as they seek to further upgrade a facility described as one of the best in NSW.
"With the resurfacing of the hardcourts, we probably could have afforded to do it ourselves but there were so many other jobs and maintaining the tennis facility is very expensive," she explained.
"We usually manage to do it ourselves but we've had quite a few jobs accumulate on us and we're actually still applying because there's more we want to do. We need to upgrade lights and we have plans for an extension to the club house.
"The hardcourts are the cheapest part of it and I thought they were just the best in the district but I'm told by some of the coaches who play tournaments that they're the best hardcourts in the state. Even better than Homebush!"
With fencing replacements set to cost about $140,000, Dening said that's where they would start but reassured patrons that the club would look to deliver the upgrades in waves, in order to stay open for what she described as a growing player base.
"We might have to do it piecemeal, otherwise we'll have no courts," she said.
"In any case the fencing has to be done first.
"There's a lot of new people moving to the area and it's all about getting the young ones involved and promoting tennis as a sport."
