Kevin Stafford defeated Gordon Lewis 31-15.
On a rain affected green Lewis shot away to a 10-7 lead but from then on it was always one way traffic. Stafford took control of the match making great draw shots and it was a one act show.
With Stafford, who picked up three lots of fours and a three, one could say he put the cleaners through Lewis and quickly left him behind to move into the next round.
Matches that have not been completed will be rescheduled when weather allows.
These matches are as follows:
Brian Porter leading Richard Denman 29-8
Glen Giese leading Mick Flynn 16-13
Graham Hunt leading Terry Norwood 14-13
Mike Holmwood leading Eric Willacy 21-18
On Sunday, players had the option to play some of the senior singles on the synthetic green owing to the grass greens being out of action from the rain on Saturday or wait until the grass greens come back into play.
After a lot of deliberation two matches took place in wet weather conditions.
Julie Hayden caused an upset when she defeated Keith Edwards 31-23.
Edwards with all his experience was expected to win but Hayden was the more accomplished bowler on the day.
Ashley Lewis defeated Viv Gear 31-21
Lewis, who has been a top level player for some time, was expected to win but Gear had some good patches of play and kept pace with Lewis under the wet conditions.
However Lewis put his game together and pulled away for a 10-shot win to move into the second round.
Club news
Acting bowls administrator Glen Giese has realised the demand for players to commit to playing on Saturday and Sunday to try and catch up on the back log of matches. Thanks goes to the players at Bowral Bowling Club who work with him to get the club championships up to date.
