Many community members are seeking clarity because the process of the Berrima Gaol sale is hidden.
Much of what MPs, Ministers and the Government-appointed real estate agents, Colliers, have stated has been contradictory.
This has been causing many Wingecarribee residents concern, to the point that due to the lack of clear information on the process many have sought to publicise what is going on.
Obviously Expressions of Interest (EOI) are part of a sale process, and the first step in rounding up interested parties.
Colliers have placed the information relating to the Gaol Expression of Interest behind a password protected barrier... not very public or transparent... It's hard to respond to an EOI when you can't see it.
Finally, it's wonderful Ms Tuckerman has now so clearly and publicly responded to efforts of so many in gaining publicity for these issues and has committed herself and the government to the involvement of the council and the local residents.
It was also positive to hear a clear commitment to public use of the space, and for a proper assessment and consideration of all alternative uses for the site so it maintains its place as an historic centrepiece for Berrima.
Hopefully now the EOI will be made openly available to all interested groups to put their proposals forward.

Being a life long resident of the Southern Highlands, I am in protest to the sale of Berrima Gaol, especially being decided by an outsider who knows nothing about the value of heritage history in our area.
We are being overrun by outsiders who also want to use up and destroy our land, trees and wildlife.
Can't they just butt out and leave us in peace?
They have no business here, our lives have been disrupted enough.

Economic health no thanks to Federal Government
The economy may be trending up but I'm not rushing to thank the present Federal Government for that.
The economic forecast would be much healthier if billions of taxpayers' funds weren't misspent on spurious outlays (some of them rorts needing a Federal ICAC investigation), if large corporate entities paid more appropriate and higher taxes, and if low and middle class Australians earning $90K or less paid less tax.
I'll be voting for Independents next election - the ones who will stand up for the rights of those in Oz who pay to make the wheels go in the direction of democracy, shared prosperity, and real vision for both now and the future.
