With the unfortunate cancellation of the Southern Highlands Art Trail, a group of artist and creatives have collaborated to make this event happen.
With support from local business owner Erin Adams, more than 20 creatives will be popping up and opening their doors for visitors and locals to have the opportunity to buy direct from local artists.
Local organiser Erin Adams said The Pop-Up Project would give the public a rare opportunity to meet the makers, to see their work in the environment within which it was created and to buy direct from the studio.
"Artists told us they loved opening their spaces, their studios, meeting locals and visitors and being able to share with them their stories, it gives the ability to connect, which we have all greatly missed in this hard time," she said.
The Pop-Up Project is a brand-new event designed to help support local artist and creatives to have the ability to sell direct to public, not just online.
All participating studios will be open on both weekends of the Pop-up Project in December and participating artists and studios are all located within the Southern Highlands.
The 2021 Pop-Up Project will be held over two weekends, December 4 and 5 and December 11 and 12. Studios will be open 10am - 4pm or by appointment, direct with each artist.
Ms Adams said this group of artists had shown resilience and a tenacity that our shire should be proud of.
"We're hopeful that the pandemic restrictions will continue to ease," she said.
"However, each Studio and artist has a COVID safe plan in place to ensure social distancing measures are maintained including limiting patron numbers in participating studios and members of the public will be required to scan the QR code into each studio."
"Given how challenging 2021 has been so far, we believe the inaugural Pop-Up Project this year will be a success particularly with locals and visitors keen to support our Southern Highlands arts community."
