Koalas are about as they head into breeding season.
During Koala breeding season (Spring/ Summer) male koalas will be on the move looking for a mate.
As they search the landscape, they may venture into new areas and need to cross roads and motorists are advised to keep an eye out for any furry marsupials keen to cross the road.
Sadly, in the last couple of months there have been two reported koala roadkill incidents.
What to do if you see a koala?
- If you do see a koala crossing the road, please slow down and please don't assume they will move out of the way.
- If you see any injured koalas (or any other wildlife) - please call your local Wildlife carer for help.
There are several wildlife carers in the Southern Highlands.
