Eric Willacy, Bob Crowley, Peter Morales defeated Robin Staples, Glen Giese, Gordon Lewis 16-15 in the match of the day.
This was a low scoring match, Team Lewis had an 8-3 lead after eight ends it took time for Team Morales to get into the match and this they did, only trailing 8-6 at the halfway mark.
Team Lewis was in a position to win the match, leading 13-8 after 15 ends. The way both teams played tight bowls, it was not imagined any side was going to get a big score but Team Morales picked up five shots on the 16th end to have the scores equal at 13-all.
Team Lewis took the lead again but a failure to convert shots was their undoing. With one end to play and the scores level at 15-15, the build-up was intense.
Team Morales made it hard on the last end, holding two shots that were difficult to match and the best Team Lewis could do was cut the score back to one.
The match ended in favour of Team Morales by one shot, a close encounter from start to finish.
