Team Porter was on target early and shot to a 11-4 lead after nine ends. However, Team Wall was ready for the challenge and with a good range of shots they fought back to be on equal terms 12-all after 13 ends.
On the last few ends Team Porter edged closer to victory and eventually came away with a three shot win.

Club news
When choosing a set of bowls, make sure you do so under expert guidance. Most clubs are in the fortunate position of having one or two members capable of advising any newcomers in this respect.
If not, pay a visit to the official tester or write to bowls manufacturing firms stating your requirements.
Here are a few hints that should aid the novice when purchasing bowls:
- Your bowls must suit you, you must have a good 'feel' or 'touch'. Low crown bowls are most suitable for players with short thumbs and stubby fingers while oval-shaped, or high crown bowls are most manageable for those players with wide thumb span and long tapering fingers.
- When selecting bowls, do not fasten on to a set because "so and so" uses them. What may suit one player might not suit you. For instance, I do not favour a certain make of bowl because of excessive gloss and smoothness which requires too much grip paste in cold weather to handle with confidence. But other players using the same make of bowl under similar conditions appear to suffer no inconvenience.
