Many have called it freedom day but I would rather call it 'get out and exercise day.' It is pleasing that community sport can resume again and bowls is one of the many community sports that people can get back to and start to regularly participate in again.
More than a few people have commented to me that it is great to get our freedom back and as good as that is to many people, following what has happened in the world with all the lockdowns my main concern is that we don't lose our freedom of speech.
The remaining months of the year will certainly be a challenge to bowls administrators.
The Bowral men's committee met for an in-depth meeting on Saturday morning to deal with the challenges ahead regarding the regulations on vaccinations
Committee member Glen Giese welcomed the great news that bowlers can get back to play again starting with social bowls and the resuming of competition play in club championships.
Bowls NSW recommends that clubs impose a limit of 50 people per green. This recommendation applies to all indoor and outdoor greens.
Bowlers, we still have very challenging times ahead so here are some things to remember.
- All inquiries should be directed to the manager Tony Dunn.
- Remember most importantly to put in your wallet that you have had a double dose vaccination.
- Over the past few months with the wearing of masks and not being able to get a haircut or have beards trimmed many members have become hard to recognise so we don't want you looking like you are linked to the mafia.
Anyway apart from all my comments a big welcome back on Wednesday to the greens if the weather allows and please don't forget your double vaccination papers to save any embarrassing moments. A person will be at a table to check you into the club.
They say people should practice what they preach so I will now go and put my papers in my wallet!
