Give Where You Live launched in the Highlands on September 1, and has allowed Highlanders to see what could make a difference to lives across the region on a weekly basis.
It is a collaborative effort between the not-for-profit organisation GIVIT and the Southern Highlands Foundation.
GIVIT's NSW engagement officer Kirsty Bender said about 20 charities were registered across the region, and Highlanders had donated over $2000 for charities to purchase items.
"There has been a great response," she said.
"It is the perfect way for people in their own community to see what is needed in the community."
She also told the Southern Highland News that over $6000 worth of items had been purchased with donated funds.
"Lockdown has hidden a lot of things, a lot of people are hurting and are in need," said Southern Highlands Foundation director Peter Barge.
"I believe the more people who are giving in the region, the closer and more engaged we are as a community."
The platform supports people who are struggling with issues such as domestic violence, the repercussions of COVID-19, homelessness, disabilities and natural disasters.

Give Where You Live enables individuals to give in every way they possibly can, and provide a platform to community groups across the region.
Items can be funded to be purchased for struggling individuals and families such as vouchers, furniture, appliances and clothing.
Highlanders can also donate funds, but also directly donate items if they have them.
"We really want to excite people to donate items because it has given charities access to items," Mrs Bender said.
"We want donations locally, so charities and services have access locally."
