Bowls NSW has made numerous representations to NSW Health and the Office of Sport seeking an exemption for bowling greens to be open on behalf of our members.
To date these submissions have been denied, however we are continuing to pursue the matter.
Once an updated public health order has been released, further updates will be provided to members.
Club news
The club cannot overstress the fact that a bowler should look like a bowler on the green.
The association recommends the following type of dress uniformity for all pennant and association fixtures:
- White hat with club hat/band
- White or cream shirt and trousers, and if worn, a white pullover
- Club blazer with club badge or other sufficient designation on breast pocket thereof
- White or brown rubber-soled heeled shoes.
Colourful pennant uniform and caps have also been added to the general uniform.
A sample of material of each club blazer and design of club badge shall be lodged on behalf of each affiliated club with the secretary of the association for approval of the pennant committee, and on the same being approved shall be duly registered by the association.
Bowral players mostly all keep within the rules for dress code. But the club reminds players that on a Saturday, bowlers should wear the correct dress.
Remember that also you can wear a shirt of a different bowls club as long as club trousers or shorts are worn.
On a Wednesday men's bowls is mufti which means neat sports attire and not bowling dress.
This is to get new bowlers introduced to the game of lawn bowls before they purchase bowling dress whilst enjoying the sport before any big outlay in cost.
