Argyle Hotel Publican Adrian Guest says while businesses have been hit hard, he wanted to look on the bright side and encourage locals to put money back into the community.
"Whilst tourists from Sydney are important, we are here for the local community," he told the Southern Highland News.
"My message is simple and clear: shop local wherever you can. Support the Highlands community, so local businesses can come out the other side."
Guest said whilst both lockdowns had thrown up challenges, he is confident the much-loved pub will evolve alongside the unpredictable environment caused by the pandemic.
"Last year, it was all new and terrifying territory," he explained.
"This time, we were better set up to operate under restrictions, and we know we've been through it once and come out the other side.
"There is also the hope that although we'll need to operate differently to ensure the safety of our patrons and staff, that this will be the last lock down, as we learn to live safely with COVID."
Whilst forced to close their doors, Guest said it was a positive the Argyle had been able to find new ways of serving Moss Vale and surrounding areas.
"Having been through this last year, the transition was certainly easier this time.
"Being able to continue to serve takeaway, particularly the introduction of home delivery, helps feed the community and keeps some of our staff employed.
"It's been a lifeline to be able to keep a part of our business operating, and stay engaged with our community on some level."
