The furry duo took their roles as ring bearer and flower girl very seriously, and watched as their owners made a lifelong commitment to one another.

They were even dressed for the occasion - Badger had a tuxedo collar with a clip for the rings, and Maggie had a custom-made floral couture collar to match the bridesmaids' flowers.

Both dogs usually took part in camping trips and horse events, so a wedding was a glamourous upgrade.

"They were bathed on the day," said bride Nikki Lambourn.

The dogs joined their parents Nikki and Matt Lamborn, and over 60 guests at the Bushfield Farm in Gundaroo on April 17.

Mrs Lambourn said they were lucky that their original wedding date went ahead smoothly, unlike other couples who planned their nupitals during the pandemic.

Badger was the first dog who fulfilled his duty, as he sat at the front of the aisle with the groom and his groomsmen.

Although he had an eye removed and could not see out of his remaining eye, he sat quietly throughout the ceremony, and felt the romance in the air.

Well, mostly.

Mrs Lambourn explained that Badger started coughing throughout the ceremony, and had to be taken aside for a drink.

But the Goulburn resident also said the Border Collie x Blue Cattle Dog did cause "a bit of a scandal the night before."

"Badger ripped open the box of chocolate wedding favours and ate quite a few," she said.

"We were worried he would get really sick, but he had a stomach of steel and was fine."

It was then Maggie's turn to shine, as she accompanied the first bridesmaid down the aisle.

"She made eye contact with others as she walked past with her tail up, and she had a prance," Mrs Lambourn said.

"I believe she thought everyone was there for her.

"She must have thought everyone was looking at her, and enjoyed being the centre of attention."

The Border Collie also proved she had poise and grace in front of the camera.

"She was a little model for the day," Mrs Lambourn laughed.

"I called Maggie up because I knew she liked scratches behind her ears.

"I grabbed her paws and reached out to sniff her, and we mucked around.

"The photographer captured the moment perfectly."

Although both pooches were dedicated to their duties, they were also rewarded with many pats and the chance to run around.

"I also saw people sneak them treats off the grazing platters on the day," Mrs Lambourn laughed.

"The wedding went beautifully, I could not have asked for them to have behaved any better."

Badger and Maggie went home after a long day before the reception but not before they posed for many wedding photos.
