A mental health advocate and Young Conversation Champion Award recipient, Jeremy is raising funds for R U OK Day (Thursday, September 9) with a little help from Moss Vale Community Pharmacy.
This isn't Jeremy's first foray into raising awareness for mental health, last year he raised awareness for R U OK at Moss Vale High School with a 'Wear it Yellow Day'.
Jeremy highlights the support he received from Moss Vale High School's principal Ms Holmes.
"Without the school's support, I wouldn't have been able to start this at all," he said.
"This year I wanted to reach out further.
"We've gotten help and support from Moss Vale Community Pharmacy. Maddi has helped me purchase yellow socks and yellow themed masks which we are trying to sell in the community to raise funds for R U OK.
"We are also trying to encourage local businesses to get involved. We are selling business packs for $100 that include masks, socks and cardholders.
"I'm trying to entice businesses as much as possible to get involved and help spread the word about how important it is to check up on people."
Businesses that would like to get involved can contact Moss Vale Community Pharmacy or email Jeremy at highlandsawareness@gmail.com.
With Covid-19 at the forefront of everyone's mind, Jeremy said it was important to get the community involved.
"Mental health is more prevalent now than ever with the Covid-19 pandemic," he said.
"I want everyone in the community to get involved as much as they can.
"Even if everybody does something as simple as asking a friend, co-worker or family member if they are ok.
"I think that with everyone being in lockdown and not having that normal social interactions everyone's attitude and behaviours have changed a bit.
"Just check up on them and see how they are going because you can't always tell the symptoms and signs of depression."
Community members can purchase yellow or black Covid-19 face masks and yellow socks, with the proceeds going towards R U OK.
Both the face masks and socks will cost $10 (cash only sales please) and will be available to purchase from Moss Vale High School Front Office and Moss Vale Community Pharmacy.
